Obituary of Alex Gyemi

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Alex, surrounded by his loving family on November 20, 2018 at 96 years of age. Loving husband and best friend of Margaret (nee Puskas) with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. Cherished and devoted father of Margie Weaver and husband Gary, Michael Gyemi and wife Lucie, the late Sandy, Alex Jr. Gyemi and wife Diane, Tony Gyemi and wife Linda and Teri Lovis and husband Larry. Much loved Grandpa of Anita and husband Justin, Nicholas, Andre, Nicole, Aaron, Alana, Bradley, Carla and husband David, Danielle, Lauren, Erik and Hayley. Great Grandpa of Lucas. Dear brother of the late John Gyemi and late wife Alice. He will also be missed dearly by his niece Mary Gyemi, the entire Puskas family and countless friends. Alex retired from the City of Windsor after over 20 years of dedicated service as a Building Inspector. At retirement, he was also the President of C.U.P.E Local # 543. Alex and Margaret were also active members of the Centers for Seniors Windsor, Seniors Games Council of Windsor Essex County, Canadian Association of Retired Persons (C.A.R.P.), Paladium Seniors Bowling League and were proud supporters of Windsor Developments (Parks and Rec). Above all, his unwavering love for his family and countless camping trips to Killbear Park will be forever remembered. Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East, 519-253-7234 on Saturday November 24, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Words of Remembrance at 12 Noon in the Chapel. Cremation to follow.
