It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Aurelio on November 6, 2018, at Windsor Regional Hospital. He is the cherished husband of Ellen (Guiotto, nee Manias) and his predeceased wife Mary, (nee Mattiuz, 1984). Loving father to Jenny (Michael Fournier) and Rudy (Susan). Step-father to David Guiotto, Diane (Angelo Magri), and Paul (Carol) Guiotto. Proud and loving Nonno to Nicolas Fournier (Mary), Michlyn (Stephen Rankin), Simon, Alaina, Lauren, Caitlin, Erica, Christopher, Robert, Lexus, Viansa and Bis-Nonno to Elijah, Delilah, Avila Mae and Baby Fournier on the way. Dear brother to Egidia (Pietro) Zanon and brother-in-law to Grazia (Feruccio) Pupulin. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Giuseppina, Bruno, Mercedes, Danilo (Agnese), Feruccio, Remigio (Zelinda) and Elio (Vilma). He is survived by many nieces and nephews both here and in Italy. Dad was born in Fiume Veneto, Italy on November 3, 1937 and immigrated to Canada in 1954 at the age of 17 to find work. He was the son of Emilio (1962) and Maria (1986) (nee Scalon). Shortly after his arrival in Canada, dad began his career as a carpenter. He was a skilled designer and talented craftsman who worked tirelessly to provide for and create opportunities for his family. Dad will be remembered for having a playful sense of humor, a sharp mind, an incredible work ethic and an unwavering dedication to his family. He enjoyed making wine, preserving meats, cooking, gardening and travelling. He also enjoyed watching his favorite soccer (Torino), and hockey (Toronto Maple Leafs) teams. Above all, nothing brought him more joy than cooking for his family and in sharing food, drinks and stories together at the dinner table. Dad was a proud and active leader of the Giovanni Caboto Club, having spent 63 years as a club member, serving in various capacities on the executive board and council. He was an instrumental part of the club"s expansion and renovations, with his work gracing many of the club"s banquet halls, library, boardroom and members" bar. In 2009, Dad was recognized by his peers, being selected as the recipient of the Laurea Emeritus Summa Cum Laude, the Giovanni Caboto Club"s highest award of merit, in recognition of an extraordinary lifelong contribution. He was also a member of the Fogolar Furlan Club for 49 years. Dad was an extremely proud and generous man who never turned down a request for help. He was a soft-spoken man who led by example, teaching us the importance of family, friendship, respect and optimism. A heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses, respiratory and physiotherapy teams that treated and cared for dad with utmost compassion during his hospital stay.
