Obituary of Franco Marignani

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Franco Marignani at the age of 87. Franco died peacefully with his loving family by his side on April 27, 2018. Franco was born to the late Angelo and Maria Marignani in the Italian village of Vecciola, Sarnano. He immigrated to Canada in 1948 where he met his loving wife Felicia Bice (nee Piccinini). Franco was loved deeply by his children Dr. Marilena Marignani and husband Dr. Hassan Razvi, Angelo Marignani and wife Dayna, and Dr. Paola Marignani. Franco was blessed with loving grandchildren Matthew and Claire Razvi, Sofia and Sebastian Marignani; whom he cherished and enjoyed. Franco was loved by his sisters the late Olanda Cerchie and Tecla Bonelli. Franco is predeceased by his brothers-in-law Tony Cerchie, Ezio Bonelli, John, Ned and Gino Piccinini and Luciano Picciotti and predeceased by his sisters-in-law Filomena Piccinini and Maggiorina Picciotti. Franco is survived by his brothers- in- law Claudio Piccinini and Louie Muzzin and sisters-in-law Nida and Flora Piccinini and Elvira Muzzin. He will also be missed by his cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, USA and Italy. Franco was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served on the Executive Board of the American Society of Metallurgists as the Treasurer. He shared his passion for art, architecture, photography, nature and travel, especially traveling to Italy with his family and friends. Franco was an avid fisherman and hunter; sharing his respect for nature and the environment with his children and grandchildren. The Marignani Family thanks Dr. Norrie and Dr. Liang for their compassion and care. The family would also like to thank the staff and caregivers at the Alzheimer's Society of Windsor, Sarah Brockman of CCAC and the staff of Care Partners, Rachel Saba and Glenda della Torre, the nursing staff on the 5th floor of Windsor Regional Hospital -Metropolitan Hospital, Transition to Betterness, and Sunrise Retirement Living. A warm thank you to the friends and relatives over the years that have helped Franco and his family throughout his journey.Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Avenue, 519-253-7234 on Monday April 30, 2018 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Eulogies and Prayers at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday at 10: 15 a.m. from the Funeral Home then to St. Angela Merici Church for Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Claudio Piccinini, C.P. officiating. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In memory of Franco, memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer"s Society of Windsor or the charity of your choice.
