Obituary of John Stephan Becic

BECIC, John June 23, 1931 - April 16, 2018John Becic passed away surrounded by family on April 16, 2018. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Becic (nee Beiko). He is survived by his son John (Heather), brother-in-law Bill (Audrey - predeceased) Beiko, nieces and nephews Debra (Bob) Beiko, David (Louise) Beiko, Angela (Mike) Beiko, John Lepo, David Lepo, Robert Lepo, great nephews Timothe, Thierry, Paul, John Mackenzie, Hunter, and great niece Annie. John was predeceased by his mother, Anna Becic, father, Stefan Becic, sister, Maria Lepo, and brother-in-law, Joseph Lepo. John was born in Windsor, Ontario to Anna and Stefan Becic. He was an Ontario track and field champion in high school. After graduation, John worked as a draftsman in a Windsor tool and die shop before enrolling at the University of Iowa, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree. After college, John worked as a design engineer for Boeing near Seattle, Washington, where he helped design the oxygen system for the original Boeing 707. Later, John moved back to the Detroit, Michigan area. He worked several years for Ford Motor Company, before spending most of his career at General Motors, where he designed car and truck engines. John retired from GM in 1987. After retirement, he spent his time as a stay at home dad with his son, John. Later, John spent much time caring for his wife Mary in her final years. John will always be remembered as a family man who put his family first and cared for others before himself. John"s big smile and big heart will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East, Windsor Ontario. 519.253.7234 on Friday, April 20, 3:00-5:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. Prayers will be at 7:30 pm. Funeral Services on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 9:30 am, until time of Funeral Mass at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church (1947 Meldrum Rd. Windsor, Ontario) at 10:00 am. Entombment to Follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery (5005 Howard Ave. Windsor, Ontario).
