Obituary of Filomena De Benedictis

DE BENEDICTIS, Filomena (nee Tortola), Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, April 8, 2018, just two weeks shy of her ninetieth birthday. Born in Miranda, Isernia, Italy on April 23, 1928, and immigrated to Canada on July 9, 1952. Reunited in heaven with her parents Elisa (1953) & Giovanni (1995), and her beloved husband Michele (2012). "Mothers hold their children"s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever""author unknown. Adored by daughter Lisa Beaulieu (Mark). Cherished and adored nonna of Daniella Scarano (Luciano) and Stephanie Anselm (Sam). Cherished bisnonna of Danica Scarano and Owen and Olivia Anselm. Loving sister of Franco Tortola (2015)(Domenica) of Windsor, Domenico Tortola (Assunta) of Italy. Sister-in-law of Raffaele De Benedictis (2007)(Gulia) of Italy and Gaetano De Benedictis (Maria) of Italy. Aunt to many nephews and nieces of Windsor and Toronto, Ontario and of Isernia, Italy. Mom survived many setbacks in her life, but she was always a fighter. She devoted her life to her family and blessed everyone with her love, faith, generosity and kindness. Filomena was a loving mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and we as her children are proud of what she accomplished in her lifetime and the sacrifices she made on our behalf and her memory will live with us forever. She will be missed dearly by many friends and relatives. Special thanks to all her physicians: Dr. Martin McFarlane, Dr. F. Mikhail, Dr. W. Rajkumar, and Dr. Alicja Nerga. E., 519-253-7234, on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 3-5 & 7-9pm. Parish Prayers at 4:45pm. Funeral Services continue from the funeral home on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 8:45am then to St. Angela Merici Church for Funeral Mass at 9:30am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
