Obituary of Caterina Bavetta
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our mamma, nonna and bisnonna, peacefully at home. Born in Campobello di Mazara, Sicily, and predeceased by the love of her life, Pietro (1990), and 9 siblings, she, being the youngest of the family. Loving mamma of Virginia Iaquinta (Joe, 2002), and Tina Scott McGaffey. Cherished nonna of John (2001) Peter Iaquinta, Kathleen Matt Smith, Natalie McGaffey (David), Matthew McGaffey. Proud bisnonna of Andrew Smith. Survived by many dear nieces nephews in Canada, USA, Italy. Generous and caring with her time and talents, she was "Nonna" to many in the St. Gregory School community. Known for her pasta, pizza, and "Nonna"s bread" for 1st Communion preparation, always willing to help and feed the less fortunate. Having operated Caterina"s Beauty Salon for more than 50 years, not only was it a place of business, but also a gathering place where clients became friends and enjoyed conversation and coffee. We will continue to have Sunday family dinners, keeping her memory and tradition alive. Her devotion to faith and family will be a lasting legacy. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel), 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7234 on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 2-4 6-9pm. Visitation continues on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Good Shepherd Parish (462 Advance Blvd., Tecumseh) from 9am until time of Funeral Mass at 10am. Burial to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens. In kindness, donations may be made in Cathy"s name to the Heart Stroke Foundation or to the Downtown Mission.
