I was a student of Mr Chedour at Mill street public school back in 1980+1981. He was my history teacher and basketball coach and was a great teacher and role model. Just wanted o send a message along with my thoughts and prayers as he was one of those teachers along the way that influenced me and taught me much more than history or basketball. I am truly sorry for the loss of such an amazing man. I had the privilege to have him for my grade 8 teacher. I was bullied pretty badly in grade school, but he stood up for me when I thought I couldn't do it anymore. He stood with me and made sure I knew I wasn't alone. I will always remember his kindness. With great sadness, Tonya Quick

Thoughts and prayers with all of you at this sad time. Mr. Chedour was my grade 7 and 8 history teacher. He was the reason I fell in love with history and to this day enjoy discovering more things that history has to offer us. Even after I went off to high school I would go back and visit and he always took the time to help me if I had questions about my history classes in high school.

I am so sorry for your loss. When I played basketball for Essex High almost 10 years ago, Mr. Chedour was the assistant coach for the junior girls team. He was such a patient and understanding coach. When the game got intense, I would look at Mr. Chedour and he would have a cool calm stance and a smile on his face. Eventually when I become a coach, I aspire to have similar qualities as Mr. Chedour: patience, appreciation, knowledge about the game and being a positive mentor. I have great memories of him as a coach and I am sure you and your family have wonderful memories of him.

I am very sad! Randy was a great friend from before high school. We sent much of our high school time together: in class, basketball, student council, dances, parties, double dates, roller skating, hanging out with the guys, going to Detroit for shopping and ball games...much more. I went away and we lost touch for periods but in the past few years we reconnected. We had some special times and I developed a renewed appreciation for who he had become. The last few times we spoke, he seemed at peace with everything. He was in a good place. He talked about his family. The grandkids lit him up. I have had a lot of responses from former classmates. He was loved and appreciated. The most common thing is "He was such a nice guy!" Not so bad a commentary. I will miss you Randy.

My sincere condolences to Randy''s family and friends. Having grown up on Glidden Ave, in Riverside close to the Chedour home I remember Randy. He was a very kind person to me. I remember his concern and assistance one time when I was accidentally injured and his going out of his way to make sure I was okay. The memory shared here in his notice is a beautiful tribute to his life. My thoughts, prayers, and hopes for exceptional strength, consolation, and comfort go out to each person who is mourning his loss and celebrating his place in their lives. Hugs.

Randy Chedour was my Grade 8 teacher in 1989-1990. What many people might fail to realize is that Mr. Chedour''s teachings continued beyond the classroom and even beyond the traditional school year. Mr. Chedour introduced me to basketball at Gosfield North Elementary School. That sport got me through high school, and St Clair College. If it hadn''t been for that sport, I''d not have cared as much about school and who knows where I''d be today. Mr. Chedour also hired me in the summer of 1990 to paint his front porch. I''ll never forget it. I remember he provided the paint, brushes and a small radio to get me through the day. I road my bike to his house for the work. To this day, any time Suzanne Vega''s Tom''s Diner comes on the radio, I think of that work; because Mr. Chedour came around the corner and was kind of taken aback by the oddness of that song as it played. I remember turning it down. I''ve since driven by that old house, pointing out to my own three kids that "I painted that porch as a kid for one of the best teachers I ever had."
