Father Dennis was an amazing person whose love and compassion shone through to everyone around him. He always put the needs of others first and never felt worthy of the compliments he deserved. His love for the children of the parish was warm and genuiine and he always made them feel special and an important part of the parish. He truly will be missed by the entire Sunday School ministry but the children and teachers pray that he rest in peace in the arms of our Lord . We love you Father Dennis.

Fr. Dennis, God Bless you always. Fathers passing is a huge loss to our community-however, we will cherish the memories of his life we were blessed with for so many years. We loved your smile, your kind words and your in-depth, personal homily given weekly. You were always so honest and down to earth explaining your past and present state. Your welcoming opening "we hope you feel welcome and at home in our parish" to any visitors always brought me so much joy knowing those around the church felt so welcome. You were one of a kind, 2nd to none. Your leadership and love to all of us will never be forgotten. RIP Fr. Dennis.

Sending our deepest sympathies. Fr. Dennis was an amazing person who always had time to make you feel welcome. Weather it was a wave, peace sign at the kiss of peace, or the introduction of a new family or visitor. Fr. Dennis worked hard at making our amalgamated parishes one. He knew we all had to roll with change and he was our mentor. My children are growing up in the St. Rose, Corpus Christi, Brennan family and the common thread has always been Fr. Dennis. He has been patient, kind, and loving. Even when children were antsy, talkative, or day dreaming. He had a gift to accept them as they were and always incorporated them in the mass. I will miss him sitting and reading to the children at Christmas Eve mass, the Our Father on the alter as the children hurry to hold Fr. Dennis' hand, and his everyday way of making you feel like you belong. Fr. Dennis was a loving man who lived a real life and spread the word of Christ in his daily actions. He will be missed by many, Remembered by all who knew him. Touched by his love of all mankind. I am grateful to have know such a wonderful man, for he has built a loving home for our family at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Rest in the peaceful arms of the Lord Fr. Dennis.

I am looking at the photo of the four us taken twenty years ago within a frame that carries the name Friends. There you are, in the middle of Pat, Mike and I, more than a few pounds lighter, but with that captivating, characteristic smile. And now with both you and Mike gone, there remains almost a translucent spirit in the picture of the two of you hovering over our friendship. I brought the picture to Pats house this early morning, placed it on the table, drank coffee and toasted to the both of you for enriching our lives. We miss you terribly, buds. And so this picture became a vehicle of reminiscence for me taking me back to our youth, to the memories that you held dear to your heart. There we were, the four of us, right out of celebrated movie films such as Stand By Me and American Graffiti, kids lost in play and teenagers wrapped in rebellious energy. You reminded me often of those days where we dangerously played by Grand Marais ditch and dared to cross it on a sewer pipe that ran over the waste water. You reminded me of the outrageous game played on the property of Willys Jeeps where a belt was hidden and whoever found it dared to use it on us who were close by. You reminded me of grade school antics where we teased the girls, got the strap for leaving our patrol raincoats in the washroom, and perhaps took an extra bottle of milk when we were responsible for its distribution in class. Those were the days where we could play until the street lights came on and one would hear all parental voices in the neighborhood calling their children to come home. And then, we became teenagers where we attended St. Alexander and watched jealously as the senior athletes got all the girls, followed by attendance at Corpus Christi, later to become Brennan High School where you decided not to keep up with your studies and were asked to repeat your school year. I never really forgave you for that, but your mind, like the rest of us, was captured in living in the moment. So, we became more interested attracting the opposite sex and attend dances at St. Petes where we would circle the perimeter of the dance floor until we had enough courage at the end of the evening to ask a girl to slow dance. And when we were successful, we exaggerated the moment to each other, but never seemed to manage to get a second dance. We hung out at the Firestone for hours watching all the activities of older teenagers in cars at the nearby A&W. And when we got our drivers license we became the cats meow with my Mustang convertible and your fathers 59 Chrysler complete with fins and push button transmission. Complete with greasy hair, rolled up T-shirt sleeves and a pack of cigarettes. We were, shall I say, stupid in the risks we took with speeding and an occasional attempt at illegal drinking. We talked about cars, sports and women, played cards endlessly at your parents house often with your dad and Aunt Kay. That house on George Avenue became the hub of laughter and love. And then again, we moved our separate ways, you to become a mortician, Pat a policeman, Mike to his own business and I a teacher. We followed each others path and got together off and on, not as frequently as when we were young, but I never forgot your two wedding engagements that did not work out, and you settled as my best man for me, never to become a groom. Fast forward to your decision to become a priest and your ordination day. The three of us were there with our wives, so proud of your accomplishment where you went from a failing year in high school to a degree in divinity in your forties. Who does that? A great tribute to you, my friend! And so, you moved on from parish to parish as described in your obituary and every year, we, as three couples managed to come to your parish, spend the day over lunch, attend mass and rate your homily. We even suggested that we would hold up cards with a rating out of ten, but we never had to because it was always a ten. During those years, you always showed your compassion and love for your parishioners and served as a consoling voice when necessary. You helped Holly through her grief over Mikes passing. You would recognize any parishioner who suffered the loss of a loved one and personally recognize them at mass with a hug on behalf of all. I know that you did a tremendous amount for parishioners at Guadalupe who will never forget your homilies of struggle and accomplishment, of faith and love. You accepted everyone with open arms. You also moved on to take the lead in your mothers care at the nursing home. You never forgot her nor your dad who were fortunate enough to celebrate 62 years of marriage. And then you began your path to battling health issues. I labeled you the miracle baby with 9 lives. You went through two of these lives having survived some very serious complications with much time spent at hospitals here and in London. Through our community prayers and through the great assistance of many, you pulled through and came back to serving the people of your parish. I watched your eating habits like a hawk to the point that you called me the food Nazi, but no amount of name calling was going to stop me from admonishing you. Your response to me is not repeatable, but I think you got the message. Here I have to acknowledge your friend Al Bower who was by your side supporting you through every moment of illness. What a fantastic, reliable person. His value to you cannot be underestimated! So now, we come back to your last moment at the hospital with your family by your side. I managed to tap into your long term memory, and as you lay there free of needles in the end, as you listened to our story as I retold it. You could hear the family laughter and we could see the smile on your face. And then with that smile, you closed your eyes and left us that evening to be with the Lord. I cannot say enough about the honour I had of being your close friend. Pat and Mike would say the same. We hope that we can one day match your strength at our moments end, and smile back at life and say it was a nice ride; thank you for the blessing. And so I leave you, my friend, with the beautiful words by Shakespeare: Good night, sweet prince, and a band of angels sing thee to they rest. Elver Peruzzo
