Obituary of Anita Mavrinac

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anita on October 12, 2020 at the age of 93. Anita succumbed to an unexpected stroke the week before. Anita was born on August 8, 1927 in Crikvenica, Croatia. In 1957 she immigrated to Canada with her husband and son – following 3 years as refugees in Naples, Italy after Istria was ceded to Yugoslavia – and had since called Windsor her home. Anita was predeceased by her beloved husband Raffaele (Eli) and son Mauro, parents Petar Car and Anna (nee Benic), sister Nerina, brothers Alfredo Car and Boris Car, and nephew Zoran Medved. Anita is survived by her son Robert and partner Michelle Marentette, and grandchildren Aaron, Aimee and husband Andrew Burnett, and Jordan. The eldest of 7 children, she is also survived by: nephew Boris (late mother Nerina); sister-in-law Maria Car (late husband Alfredo) and nephews Paolo, Dino and Peter; sister Laura Medved; sister-in-law Yolanda Car (late husband Boris) and nieces Doris and Irene; brother Luciano Car, neice Tina and nephew Boris; sister Gianna Medves, niece Julie and nephew Eric. She will be sadly missed by her family, and by her dearest friends to whom we are forever grateful for their lifelong companionship. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave, 519-253-7234 on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Reservations are required to attend the Funeral Service on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 10am. Please call Windsor Chapel at 519.253.7234 between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm to reserve. Masks are required at visitation and Funeral Service. Cremation will follow the Funeral Service, and a private interment will take place at a later date.
