Obituary of Russell George Edgar Grant
GRANT, Russellpassed away peacefully on August 10, 2017 at the age of 82. Predeceased by parents George and Jenny (nee Scott), and brother Norman. Survived by his loving companion Winifred Westlake on her sons Garson "Gary" (Dianne), Frederick "Rick", Bruce (Linda) and Peter (Amy). Brother in law to Nanci and uncle to Steven of Farmers Branch, Texas. Russell was a lifelong student of music, sociology and theatre. He was a devoted member of the Windsor Federation of Musicians and played on stage with some of the headliners from the music industry in the 60s and 70s such as Jimmy Duranti, Dinah Shore, Kreskin, Frankie Vallie, Kenny Rogers, and Joey Massters. He played stand up and electric base with the house band touring at venues like the Elmwood Casino, Top Hat, Fairmont Shadow Lake Louise, Chateau Lake Louise, Manoir Richelieu Casino in Quebec, the Clinton Star Theater Recording Studio and Bell Sound Studios in NYC. He spent his later years learning and volunteering for the Alzheimer Society of Windsor, playing piano and performing for patients. Russell also proudly held B.M.A., B.A., BFA., and M.A. degrees. As per the family"s wishes, cremation has taken place. In memory of Russell, donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Essex County.
