A veteran of WWII he fought for his freedom against The Axis and Communism. In 1945 he was exiled from his beloved country and left on foot landing in a DP camp in Eboli, Italy. His journey then took him through Europe, stopping in England in 1948, returning to a more normal life. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada, eventually meeting his true love Koviljka. Together they lovingly raised their son Jovan. As a proud Canadian he was able to embellish his Serbian roots and faith in the Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church and community; which he loved and supported. He worked for Chrysler Canada and retired in 1991. He gained a daughter when Jovan married Patricia. Milan’s greatest joy came from his grandchildren, Luka and Sofia. A loving and adoring Deda, he was their biggest fan at their sporting events and enjoyed spoiling them every chance he had. As their family grew Milan was present in their house assisting as labourer and acting as Foreman in the upgrades and changes. Always the helping soul that he was. He could be found 5 days a week at 6 am in the gym up until he was 90; only to continue his workouts from home the following years and eventually to his last days. For him excuses just didn’t exist. A true testament of a generation that is to be admired and learned from, not to be lost or forgotten. His last years were spent under the adoring care of his wife. Only love and the lord gave her the strength to ensure he would be able to enjoy his remaining years at home. Vjecnaja Pamjat, memory eternal. A special thanks to Father Vladimir Vranic for his spiritual guidance and support. Thank you to CCAC and all the amazing caregivers at ParaMed for their help. Milan’s last days were greatly eased by the attention and excellent care he received from the 3 South Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Y. Emara Center. Thank you to Dr Freeman, Dr.Meloche, Dr. Aoun, Dr Barisic, and Dr Drkulec and all the nurses for their dedication.
Donations to Grachanica Church Fund or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Funeral Visitation at
Windsor Chapel Banwell
11677 Tecumseh Rd.
