Obituary of Jessie Loretta MacDonald
Etta passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2017 surrounded by her family at Hospice of Windsor. Predeceased by her loving husband Donald Alexander "D.A." MacDonald (1983). Etta"s belief in the importance of family is reflected in those she leaves behind, her four children Brian (Lyse), Gary (Chris), Vince (Vickie) and Darlene (Greg), 11 grandchildren (Laura, Leanne, Amy, Mason, Madeline, Delaney, Joel, Christine, Sarah, Kara and Grant). Beloved sister to Catherine (Larry), Margaret (Cecil), Josephine (Duncan), Teresa (Ted), Duncan (Annie Mae), Judy, and her sister-in-law Theresa. She was predeceased by her parents (Joseph and Jessie Gillis) and her late brothers Angus Lawrence and Donald. Etta was a beloved friend to many and a home away from home for Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. She was a lifetime member of the Cape Breton Club of Windsor. Etta was deeply committed to the Catholic Women"s League, molasses cookies and biscuits. "Someone put the kettle on. Who wants a cup of tea." Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel (CENTRAL) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519-253-7234) on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm, with prayers to be held at 8:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church (2153 Parkwood Avenue, Windsor, Ontario) at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery (5005 Howard Avenue). Donations in memory of Etta may be made to The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.
