We loved you so much Becky. Our hearts are broken, more than you can imagine. When I was in Windsor for 6 weeks helping you prior to your passing , I saw a strength of character that is hard to describe. The pain you endured bought tear to Laurie’s eyes, because she could not stop your pain and suffering. Now you are in the arms of your saviour, and you’ll no longer have all that pain. Rest In Peace my sister and Laurie’s best friend. Till we meet again Becky the memory of you will never leave us

I would like to thank ll those who posted wonderful memories of Becky. She definitely was one of a kind, her love of animals, her love of family, her love of gospel songs, and her strength of character. She was actually a very private person, needing her own space, no different when she was a young child, and she'd be found in a area where she could be alone, even for a short time, living in a home of 7 siblings. Dan as you can image is hurting terribly, but just hearing from so many, with so many kind words and memories, is helping her weather this most terrible time in her life. Thanks again to all her family and friends, as the love that you have expressed for Dana's mother, helps Dana more than you can imagine.

You were one in a million Beck. I remember making a trip to Windsor with mom and laughing as I listened to you and Pete joking around in the kitchen and Dana and I would yell through the intercom and scare people on the street walking by. Lots of fun as a kid with you around. You were so strong and witty and such a wonderful mom and gramma. I also remember coming back to renfrew for a visit 6 months pregnant making me laugh over the ugly colour of pink that was on my toes as you cooked for all of us and I ate every piece of the pineapple you had out. And laughed so hard I kept running to the washroom. You will forever be a big part of the entire Thompson family and will never be forgotten. I love You Dana and please know that even though we can’t reach out and hug you at the moment, we are here for you and waiting for when we can share some tears and laughs again soon. Love you cuz❤️

Becky, my heart aches knowing you suffered the way you did. I will always remember so many things about you. Your kind nature and your sense of humour made me smile so many times. You have welcomed me into your home and cooked for me. I will never forget how good your cabbage rolls were. You made up funny names for things and I loved when you talked to your cats too. You have always been an amazing Mom and Gramma to Dana and Julia! I always wished you were my Mom too. Thank you for all the hugs you gave me! I will always keep you in my thoughts and will cherish all the memories of you. I love you Becky!

Aunt Becky lived a good 8 hours away from me but despite this I grew up with her, Pete and my cousin Dana being a big part of my life. Despite living in Windsor, Aunt Becky was the one that made the effort to make family a priority. Every holiday as a kid I looked forward to when Aunt Becky would be coming. And what an effort when I think of it now as an adult- that several times a year she would make the long trip. This speaks to how important her family was to her... and how much she loved to be home in the valley. She cared for her family so much. I think of how she moved to Renfrew to be here for Grandma... I think of her moving back to Windsor to be with Dana and Julia after Grandma passed away. I think of all those summers where she’d rent a cottage, come home and make plans to make sure she got time with everyone of us in a huge family. Her presence will be missed- yet another one of our family gone. But she will not be forgotten. When I spend time with my cousin Dana and her daughter Julia I will appreciate our close relationship because of Aunt Becky’s strong commitment to make sure that we could have just that. Sending love and prayers to my entire family at this difficult time. Dana and Pete I know there will be a void in her absence - know that I am thinking of you both as you grieve her passing. Xoxo Jenny

Becky was the 5th born into our family and was the 2nd girl. After being the only girl with 3 brothers, I couldn't believe we actually had girl instead of another 'stinking boy'. At first I wouldn't believe my dad when he gave me the good news, but after it sunk in, I was deliriously happy. Not only was there another girl in the family, she was born on my birthday. She was my SPECIAL GIFT. That is the only birthday that I actually remember from my childhood, it is because I already had the best treasure ever. From the moment she was born and every day thereafter, I cherished her. She was a unique individual, crazy, funny, boisterous, but was also caring and tenderhearted, especially with children and animals. At age 4 she had a pet chicken...not the friendliest critter on our farm, but it would run to her and she would sit with it on her lap and talk to it as she stroked it's feathers. It was the beginning of a long relationship with animals. I will always remember the crazy things she and I would do and the many laughs and good times we had. I'd share them with you, but I think the cops are still trying to find us...lol. My dear sister, Mary Rebecca (Becky) had 2 nicknames growing up, Pigtail McCack and Reebok. She hated being called the former, but she endured the name calling and responded with much name calling of her own. It was common occurrence in our family that we all loved or hated, depending on what name you were being called. There is a part of me that is empty with Becky's passing, but I have many happy and unforgettable moments that will last a lifetime. Although I mourn her passing, I know her larger-than-life personality is permanently etched in the hearts and minds of all who knew her.
I will always love you Becky.

My dear Aunt Becky, What I remember most about you is spending Christmas' together on ford street. I would always love when you would come visit. You were always so fun to be around. You called me "Carlyle" and "Kidney Bean" when I was growing up. You always had a way of making up silly nick names for people, including when you and mom would send each other mail that was addressed to weird made up names. I was always entertained at how eaily you spoke "pig latin". I think maybe you enjoyed it more than I did. You taught me not to be afraid of the cheese grater at a young age, as ridiculous as that sounds. As a teenager you gave me a necklace that had a pendant of a bear paw. You told me when you gave it to me that I was to remind me of how strong I was. I vividly remember you as an animal lover. I don't think I have ever met anyone who talks to animals the way you would. I found it hilarious when you would get dogs howling, which was seemingly often. Just as soon as you got them to howl, you'd tell them to shush. You use to send Kurt cards on holidays. I remember seeing the joy in his face everytime he read a card from you. Those are memories I will cherish forever. I love you Becky and I will miss you always.

Cherished memories are what we have left. Memories that will live on in our hearts and minds. Memories that will bring us laughter and tears. Undoubtedly we will miss you at family gatherings and will feel sorrow; but when we recall your uniquely zany humor and share our memories of you, it will surely bring us laughter. We will miss your hospitality, excellant cooking and your bizarrio personality. You brought us much laughter; now it's up to us to keep that part of you alive. Waiting now for the wonderful and glorious day when we see you again for a family reunion like no other. I will bring the homemade butter tarts!

Becky was a hard working woman, and always was determined to do a good, quality job, at work or at home. She loved the people and scenery of her home town of Renfrew with its lakes, and hills, were sports fishing was a way of life. She made the best beef stew, and roast you would ever have the pleasure to eat, and a gravy unmatched. Becky if pulling next to a stopped car with a dog sitting in the back seat, she would call out "How are you" and often the dog would look at her so very curiously, and I would laugh at just the look on the dog's face. Becky loved to sing songs that she learned at church as a young woman, praising the Lord, while she loved giving friends nicknames, mine being Harold, and don't ask me why she chose that name for me! Rebecca was quick witted, and yes was quirky. I often told her that she should write a book on her crazy saying like "Your A Worm Faced Dog Eater or Shut Your Malted Mouth", just fun comments between friends. Sad to say, Becky suffered greatly during the past year, but her last hours in ICU were peaceful and without pain, as she finally meet her savior Jesus Christ. Becky came from a big family, most are still living and enjoying the natural and beautiful scenes of Northern Ontario. They have a deep love for each other, and all their hearts are broken with the loss of sister, aunt, grandmother Mary Rebecca Thompson. Her cat Pooh will be lost without her talking to him, as often he answered her back with a big meow! Rest In Peace Becky! We All Love You!
