Obituary of Joseph Stimac

STIMAC, Josip Joja Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 9, 2017 at 69 years of age. Dear husband and best friend of Zora (nee: Dasovic) with whom he shared 42 years of marriage. Cherished father of Joanne (Sam Madia)) and Katarina. Adored "Didi" to his most precious grandchildren Dante and Sierra. Son to the late Luja (nee: Uremovic) and Joso Stimac of Croatia. Dear brother to the late Anna (late Dane); Croatia, late Marija (Milan); Croatia, the late Stipe Stimac (Anka); Croatia, the late Mile (late Kate); Windsor, Mandica Valincic (late Zvonko);Croatia, Ivica Stimac (Mara); Vancouver and Kaja Njegovan (Milorad); Germany. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Josip was born in Perusic, Lika, Croatia and immigrated to Canada in 1968 where he met the love of his life Zora. He was a dedicated Ford employee for 36 years until his retirement in 2006 and a member of CAW Local 200 and St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church. His passions in life were sports, especially soccer, the great outdoors, but most of all his greatest passion were his grandchildren. A heartfelt thank you to all the medical staff on the 4th floor of Windsor Regional Hospital, Met. Campus and to the wonderful nurses for their sincere compassion. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave. 519-253-7234 on Tuesday April 11, 2017 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Parish prayers at 8pm. Funeral Services on Wednesday April 12, 2017 at 9:15 am from the funeral home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church (1701 Turner Rd) for Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Interment at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In kindness, donations may be made to the Windsor-Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation or St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund.
