Obituary of Pietro Mancini

MANCINI, Pietro June 28, 1925 " January 29, 2017 It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Pietro "Peter" Mancini-cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Loving husband of Mirella (nee Simoni) for 71 years; devoted father to Josie Savoni and late husband (son-in-law) Carlo, Franco Mancini and wife (daughter-in-law) Ida. Proud grandfather to Tina Villalta and husband Dino, Peter Savoni and wife Stephanie, Marco Savoni and wife Margi, Tessa Ruggirello and husband Mario, and David Mancini. Dear great-grandfather to Charlotte, Gianmarco, Giancarlo, Ericson, Gigi, Isabella, Luca, and Jack. Predeceased by his parents Domenico and Paolina Mancini; sisters, Giuseppina, Algerina Santia and brother-in-law Cataldo Santia; brothers-in-law Gimi Simoni, Ezio Simoni and sister-in-law Edda Simoni. Survived by sister-in-law Filomena Simoni, sister-in-law & brother-in-law Viviana and Vincenzo Altobelli, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Annamaria and Angelo Santangeli of Italy. He was a very special uncle to many nieces and nephews in Windsor, Michigan, and in Italy. Born in June 28, 1925 in Supino, Frosinone, Italy. He came to Canada in 1952 and with much hard work he devoted his life to providing a better future for his family. With his wife Mirella by his side, they started their first business, Italia Food Market that proudly served the Italian community for many years. They later started a second business Italia Bakery which continues to serve the Windsor community and surrounding areas including Michigan. He earned the respect of many both in business and in his personal life as he was a man of great integrity, honesty, fairness and one who gave on hundred percent and more at all times. His work ethic and sense of responsibility in all that he did was inspiring. He was a proud member of the Ciociaro Club and Caboto Club. He was giving of himself, and of his time to help a friend or a family member. He gave without question, without conditions, needing nothing in return. He was above all, a very humble man who let his actions speak louder than his words. He enjoyed the simple things in life such as working in his garden, tending to his fruit trees, flowers, or just enjoying a meal surrounded by his family. Along with his wife Mirella, he spent many happy years in Florida gaining many friends while making wonderful memories. His family brought him the most joy. He was happiest in doing and giving of himself to them. He was proud of his five grandchildren and loved being around them to give a word of wisdom or guidance. Even though in his later years, his capacity was diminished, his eyes sparkled when his little great-grandchildren came to visit him. We would like to thank Dr. Seski and the 5th floor nursing staff at WRH " Met Campus, for their excellent, compassionate care. Many thanks go to the CCAC and Bayshore homecare for their support- special thanks to Anita, George, and Yvette for providing loving care to our father all of these years. A thank you to Mike Prsa, pharmacist at Advantage Drug Mart for the special interest he took in our father. To Raquel, our family will be forever in your debt. She was his private caregiver for over six years. She loved and treated him like her own father. God Bless You Rachel. We will miss him forever and will cherish his beautiful example. We were proud and blessed to call him Father " Pap".
