Obituary of Michele Barbera

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Michele "Mike" on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the age of 73 years. Born in Italy, he came to Canada at age 22. As a young man, he came to this country with a desire for a better life. Beloved Husband to Giovanna Barbera, sharing 48 years of marriage together. Proud Father to Dr. Joseph Barbera (Michelle Marder) and Rosemary Barbera (Mark Gryn). Loving Nonno to Joshua Barbera-Gryn, Lauren Barbera-Gryn, Maya Barbera and Kyra Barbera. He is predeceased by siblings Nino Barbera, Antonina Marino, and Giuseppe Barbera. He is survived by his sisters Pina Malizia and Maria Accardo. Treasured Zio to Joseph Barbera, Nino Barbera, Piero Indelicato, Phil Indelicato, Rico Malizia, Marco Malizia and many nieces and nephews in Italy. He was known by many for his 35 years of hardworking, dedicated service at Ford Canada. He never missed an opportunity to work over-time, even being told he had to take his mandatory vacation. He took great pride in his work and in his Family. Mike will always be known for his amazing homemade Italian sauce, barbequing salsiccia, and love of gardening. He enjoyed going for rides in the county, visiting Point Pelee, talking with friends on the phone and spending time with his Family, especially his grandchildren. You could always count on Mike to tell you a story from the 'Old Country' to make you laugh. His Family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the exemplary and compassionate staff at Huron Lodge who would always take the time to listen to his stories while they cared for him.
