Obituary of Anna Matteis

MATTEIS, Anna (nee Tiefenbach) October 1, 1920 - November 19, 2016 Passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 19, 2016 at the age of 96 years. Loving wife of the late Nikolaus (July 2003). Beloved mother of Julius and wife Yaping. Special Oma of Simone (Tim Ebbinghaus), Mark Matteis (Maria), Carmen Matteis and several great grandchildren. Anna will also be missed by her sisters Helen Webster and Winnie Smith and their families. Anna was a longtime member of the Holy Names Society at St. Michael's German Catholic Church. Anna will be fondly remembered by many as the "China Lady", as well as for her cooking, knitting, gardening and ceramic creations. Visiting will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd.E, 519-253-7234 on Thursday November 24th, 2016 from 7-9 pm. Prayers to take place at 8:00 pm. Funeral Service Friday November 25th at 9:30 am from the funeral home, then to St. Michael's German Catholic Church (2153 Parkwood Ave.) for Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the charity of one's choice in Anna's memory would be appreciated by the family.
