Obituary of Silvano Mekis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Silvano on June 23, 2016 with his loving wife by his side at 79 years of age. Loving husband and best friend of Madeleine (nee Lienert) for 38 years. Adored daddy of Sofia and husband Eugene Cipparone. Much loved nonno of Allegra, Amalia and Aura. Dear brother of the late Romano Mekis, late Giovanni Mekis, late Marcelo Mekis, Anita Zocchi, Djuliana Kos, Dragica Mekis and Marjio Mekis. Much loved cousin to the late Franko and surviving wife Janet Ritosa, Milia and husband Joe Tomljenovic and Franca Ritossa and husband Jim Lavin and the late Paolo and surviving wife Irene Ritossa. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and other extended family in Europe. Silvano retired from Hiram Walkers after 30 years of dedicated service. Silvano will be remembered for his beautiful vegetable gardens, fruit trees and his delicious red and white wines. Above all, Silvano will always be remembered for his steadfast devotion to his family. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (East Chapel) 519-253-7234, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. East on Sunday June 26, 2016 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. On Monday June 27, 2016 visitation will continue at Good Shepherd Parish (St. Gregory"s Site) from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. In memory of Silvano, donations may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association or to The Windsor Essex County Humane Society.
