Obituary of Werner John Doster
WERNER DOSTER, 83 of Lakeshore, passed away suddenly on May 15, 2016 at his home. He was born in St. Jacobs, Ontario on November 3rd, 1932 to Karl and Anna Doster. He lived most of his life in Windsor and Lakeshore. He married the love of his life Flo Tofflemire, which he said was his biggest accomplishment. They had many wonderful years together until her death in 1999. Werner was very proud of the fact that he was part of the Windsor AKO Jr. Fratmen that won championships in 1952 and 1954. Werner was in family run manufacturing businesses with his father, brother, sons and other family members. He apprenticed as a tool and die maker at Windsor Tool & Die. Then he ran Banner Metal Products and eventually became secretary-treasurer and co-owner of Flag Fire Equipment with his twin brother Walter. When he retired he bought a beautiful home in Fort Myers Beach, which gave him and his wife great pleasure through the years as they entertained family and friends. He loved to tinker and enjoyed putzing with his tools in his garage on various projects. His pride and joy was a 1911 Model T Ford Open Runabout. He enjoyed showing it for many years at the Willistead Classic Car Show, winning numerous awards. He also loved buying old railway lanterns that he would refurbish until his eye sight failed. He enjoyed time spent with his family, watching western movies/sports, going for walks with his son Jamie, and out for a daily lunch with family members or friends. Werner was the loving and proud father of Kathy and her husband Rick of Leamington, Jamie and his wife Liz, and Dean and his wife Diane all of Lakeshore. He is also survived by his beautiful grandchildren: Ryan and Cheryl Chevalier, Amber and Mike Harrison, Dane and Justine Chevalier, Meghan and Sinisa Djurdjevic, Amanda and Andrew Norman, Kaitlyn Doster and Neil Harris and Courtney and Ashley Doster. The great grandsons added so much joy to his final years: Tanner Harrison, Ryder and Bodie Chevalier, Warren Norman, Alexander Djurdjevic and baby Chevalier on the way. Werner is survived by his twin brother Walter (Vi, late Joyce), his sisters Helen (Roger Renaud), and Linda (Mike Robinson). Also his aunt Anne Doster (late Oskar), sister-in-law Joan Tofflemire (late John) and brother-in-law Herb Tofflemire (Jean) as well as nieces, nephews and friends. As per Werner"s wishes a private ceremony was held for his immediate family and cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Windsor Chapel Funeral Home, Banwell Chapel. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. A very special thank you goes out to all family members and friends who gave so willingly of their time to help in various ways. Also a note of thanks goes out to his nurse Danielle from Paramed, Dr. Chan, Dr. Pan, his oncologist and his nurse Maggie. Thank you as well to Windsor Chapel for the compassionate and professional care.
