Obituary of Elgin Laverne Payne
PAYNE, Elgin Laverne Born on February 15, 1936 in Meaford, ON. Passed away peacefully on April 28, 2016. Loving husband and best friend of Patricia Payne (nee Sharron). Elgin was the youngest child of the late James and Beatrice Payne. Loving brother to 4 sisters; Alice (2013), Vivian Stevenson of Alberta, Verna (2001), Olive Chisholm of Goderich and 3 brothers; Harold (2007), Bruce of Vancouver and Maurice (2000). Elgin worked as a plumber and pipefitter for Ford Motor Company in Windsor for 30 years. He was also a member of the Essex County Steam and Gas Engine Museum Inc., attending many farm shows throughout Ontario with his cherished Prony Brake which he built himself along with friend Bob Menzies. Elgin enjoyed reading his bible every day and is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, stepchildren and best friend Ed Parlette of Huntsville, ON. Predeceased by two loving wives Reta Wolcott and Mary Gardiner. A special thank you to the nurses and doctors for the wonderful care received at Windsor Regional Hospital " Metropolitan Campus. Cremation and a private family memorial has taken place. A memorial celebration of Elgin's life will take place on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Parkwood Gospel Temple, 3005 Temple Dr., Windsor, ON from 11 a.m. " 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Parkwood Gospel Temple.
