Obituary of Rudolf Solar

Solar, Rudolf "Rudi" Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 20, 2016 at Detroit Receiving Hospital. Rudi was born in Salovci, Slovenia on February 8, 1930. Beloved husband of Julia for 59 years. Loving dad to Sylvia, and Rudy (Melodie). Cherished grandpa to James and Julia. Survived by his brother, Franc Solar. Predeceased by his parents, Juzij & Karolina Solar, and siblings, Stefan, Ernest, Ema, Karolina, Marija, and Karlek. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Detroit Receiving Hospital 4th floor ICU, Dr. Lindsay Riley, Dr. Jennifer McLoed, Andrew Ruan RN, and Windsor Regional Hospital " Ouellette Campus Trauma Team. Dad was retired from Chrysler Canada since 1994. He was best remembered for the beautiful things he leaves behind. He had a passion for designing and executing his solutions, so that they looked like they belonged, recently working with stained glass. He loved orchids, was a member of the Windsor Orchid Society, and together with his wife had a named orchid variety, Catasetum J & R Solar (awarded by the Royal Horticultural Society- UK). Dad helped everyone regardless of reward, and was a wonderful man. Dad has put down his tools for the last time. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd E, 519.253.7234 on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11am, in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
