Obituary of William Alexander Salem

SALEM, William Alexander Born January 17, 1938 in Jellicoe, Ontario. Passed away peacefully on Sunday January 3, 2016. Best friend and beloved husband of Alice (Butler) for over 30 years. Loving and caring step-father to Dwayne and Derek (Jacqueline). Dear father in-law to Kim. Cherished papa to Brooke, Hailey, Myla and Leah. Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Anna Salem. Predeceased by his brother Phillip and his sisters Lorraine and Dianne. Loving brother in-law to Joe & Rose Butler, John & Irene Butler, David Toews, Dianna Salem, Fred Schuster and Alexander Mason. Will be missed by many nieces, nephews and good friends. Bill graduated from Queens University and then from Osgoode Law School in 1966. He practiced law in Windsor and Essex County for many years. Prior to his retirement he practiced for over 20 years with the firm of Salem & McCullough. He retired in 2006 where after he served as a Small Claims Court Judge from February 2007 until February, 2013. Bill loved hockey and for many years helped run the Lawyers Hockey Team, traveling to many tournaments in Canada and throughout the United States, where he and his team shared so many good times. Bill lived everyday with love for his family and friends. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 519-253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E on Wednesday January 6, 2016 from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Parish prayers Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Family and friends will be received at Good Shepherd Parish (St. Gregorys Site-13789 St. Gregory Rd.) on Thursday January 7, 2016 for a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Cremation to follow.
