We just heard the news of Jerry's passing today only. Tecumseh music had tried to contact us earlier however we were out of town for the Holliday so I only spoke with them today. My 9 year old son was taking guitar lessons with Jerry about 2 months ago however For That short time my son really enjoyed seeing him every week. I gave him the news also when he came from school today and he cried and really was so sad. He could not even go to his lesson with the new teacher b We are so sorry for your loss and may god rest his soul. He was a nice man that made us laugh on many occasions. Sincerely Chehade Famuly

Dear Linda and Family, I was so saddened to hear that Gerry passed away. We were close friends for a very long time. I first met him when he played in the band 'Salty Dog' in the late 1960s. He also had a band (Gunther's Man-eating Chicken) in the early 1970s that used to practice in the basement of my (now) wife's parents' place on Lincoln Rd off of Tecumseh. (Her name is Joan Durrant, and Gerry was friends with her older sister, Pat). Gerry and I went to the same high school (Walkerville) and spent a lot of time together, hanging out at Colosseo on Ottawa street and, later, at Franco's on Tecumseh (often 4 or 5 nights a week!). We went to those restaurants because that is where we would always find Gerry. He often played Risk (the board game) with a group of our mutual friends at my house (my parent's house) on Hall avenue. Gerry was always the first one to arrive and would always tell me to turn on the 'Mr. Coffee' coffee brewer. I am also a musician, and Gerry and I started several bands that never quite got off the ground, but we had lots of fun playing guitar together. One of our bands was called 'Dogs of the Future' - a name suggested by his mother, Helen. My 19-year-old son, Jonah, started a band here in Winnipeg about a year ago, called 'Dogs of the Future' because he loved the name and the story of its origins. When I moved to Toronto in 1983, Gerry and I lost track of each other, but our paths crossed a few times by fortuitous happenstance. After I moved to Winnipeg in 1989 we only managed to see each other once or twice when I was back visiting family. Gerry was a very sweet, fun and funny guy and will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him. Gregg

My thoughts and mind are on Gerry and his family during this time of sadness. All I can say is I will be missing my best friend and all the good times through the years. It was Gerry''s wish, during our last phone call two days before he passed, that all the people that attended airshows with us over the years, get together again for the 2017 London Airshow. I know he told me he was going to personally invite all the old gang for one more show. I remember him playing Blackbird and Rocky Racoon on his acoustic guitar while camping at the airshows. Of all the things we personally did together, his favorite camping trips were the two trips we took through the Rocky Mountains in the 1990s. I can''t relate how much fun we both had on those two trips, and our canoe trip on the Athabasca River through the rapids and life threatening spill into the icy water had to be one of his favorite stories. He always referred to that experience in the ice cold glacial waters as "his first heart attack" lol Here''s to you old friend, you have been, and always will be, my friend. I am sure we will meet again on the other side of the lake. Respectfully, Patrick F. Clancy

We will sadly miss Gerry, even though we only knew him as Caitlin''s guitar instructor. He did have an impact on our lives and my daughter. We will never forget his light hearted and fun way of instructing her lessons.

I was saddened to learn of Gerry''s passing and offer my sincere condolences to Gerry''s family and friends. I had the pleasure and great fun of knowing Gerry through Glen Peisley and what "supra" times we had. Quick with a joke Gerry brought many smiles to my family. His love of music, his guitar and voice will be missed by many. When words fail, music speaks. Gerry will be remembered. Sincerely, Kari Schofield
