Obituary of Douglas Cumming Johnson
JOHNSON, Douglas Cumming Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 92. Beloved husband of the late Phyllis Manning (2003) and dearest companion to Mary Murphy. Loving father to Derek Johnson & wife Elizabeth, Melanie Johnson, and Lindsey Johnson & partner Gary. Son-in-law Mark. Grandfather to Todd & Katie, Lara & Kyle, and Douglas. G.G. to Emy, Elias, and Etta. Survived by sister Marilyn (the late Ernie). Predeceased by brothers Ron (Ethel) and Hal. Doug will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Douglas was elected to Fellowship of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Past President of the Ontario Association of Architects. He was overseas and into Europe with the Canadian Armed Forces, Essex Scottish Regiment. Member of the Kiwanis Club of Windsor for 35 years. Long-time member of the Windsor Yacht Club. Past commodore of Southport Sailing Club. Member of the Windsor Lawn Bowling Club and the Probus Club of Windsor. As per the family"s wishes, cremation has already taken place. Memorial visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 519-253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Tuesday, December 8th, 2015 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue at Riverside United Church (881 Glidden Ave.) on Wednesday, December 9th, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. In kindness, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke, Hospice of Windsor, Riverside United Church, or to a charity of choice.
