Obituary of William Martin aka Dick Atherton
ATHERTON, William "Dick" With broken hearts we announce the passing of Dick Atherton at the age of 96. We have lost another World War II Veteran (Recke Division). Predeceased by his wife Edna (nee Spiers). Devoted father of Gail Russell, and Judy Atherton (2014). Dearest grandfather to John and Ryan Russell, Jeff Tereschuk and Melanie Webster and 4 great granddaughters. Survived by his sisters Cora Lesperance and Edith Trepanier and brother Harry Atherton. Dear friend to Barbara Quimby. Predeceased by sister Winnifred and predeceased by brothers Reg, Ted, George and Dan. Dick was a devoted past President of the Windsor Sportsman"s Club for 9 years, and was the Author of many articles published in the Anglers, Fishing and Federation. Dick was a pass member of the Masonic Lodge, sang in the Barber Shop Chorus of Windsor, played in the Salvation Army Band, and Military Band. After serving in the Military during WW II, Dick worked for Universal Button Company for 25 years. Visiting at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. A Veteran Service under the auspices of the Windsor Veteran"s Memorial Service Committee will be held at 12:30 p.m. followed by a Service in the Chapel.
