Obituary of Steve John Solcz

SOLCZ, Steve John Passed away peacefully on November 9, 2014, with his family by his side, at Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus, at the age of 89 years. Cherished husband and best friend of Virginia (nee Ulicny) (2009). Dear father of Richard and Mary Ann, Steve and Mary, Debbie Ternovan, and Anne Marie and Bill Davidson. Dear grandfather of Justin and fianc" Heather, Renee, Lindsay and husband Andrew Metcalfe, Steven, Ashley and husband Anthony Letteri, Ryan, Michael, and Kelly. Great grandfather of Addison Virginia and Ella Dawn. Beloved brother of Helen and the late Bill Slavik, Mike and Doreen Solcz, the late Mary and the late Morris Verhaeghe, Agnes and Roger Marentette. Dear brother-in-law of Mary and Bob Dowdell, John and Nancy Ulicny, Jim and Anne Ulicny, of Ottawa. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Anna (nee Tarhanec) and in-laws Joseph and Justine (nee Jenca) Ulicny. Steve enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II and retired from Chrysler Canada after almost 40 years of service and for 25 years was the Manager for St. Cyril Slovak Centre. Long time member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Slovak Roman Catholic Church. Steve"s passions in life included hunting, fishing, gardening, travelling with the love of his life and special time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed the Windsor Raceway and Slots. A special Thank You to the doctors and nurses of 6th floor W.R.H. Met Campus; C.C.A.C. workers and Revera P.S.W. workers (especially Brian). Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral service on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home then to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Slovak Roman Catholic Church (1532 Alexis Rd) for Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Kidney Foundation, Satellite Renal Clinic, or a charity of one"s choice are welcomed and appreciated by the family.
