Obituary of Joao De Medeiros Furtado

FURTADO, Joao It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Joao at his residence, on November 1, 2014, at the age of 79 years. Beloved husband to Rosa (nee Silva) with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage. Loving father to Ana and husband Mario Avila, Laura and husband Luis Simas, Nelia Furtado, John and wife Stephanie Furtado, and Susy Furtado. Cherished "Avo" to Jennifer, Amanda, Keasha, Zelia, and great-grandfather to Isaiah, Deontae, Jesse, and Quinci. Survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Portugal. Joao retired from Chrysler in 2000 after 30 years of dedicated service, and was a member of CAW Local 444. He was a man who truly loved having his family together, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy in his life. Joao was very passionate about traveling and he enjoyed smoking his cigars. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519.253.7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 7-9 pm and Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Parish prayers Tuesday at 4:30 pm. Funeral Services on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 9:15 am from the funeral home then to St. Theresa Church for Funeral Mass at 10 am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
