Obituary of Sarah Marie Gagnier
Gagnier, Sarah Marie (Andr"-de St. Joseph) "Love one another and take care of each other" Sr. Sarah passed away peacefully on February 24, 2014 at Devonshire Seniors Residence at the age of 94. She was in her 68th year of religious profession as a Sister of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Born in St. Joachim, ON she is predeceased by her loving parents Elz"ar and Lauda Gagnier and siblings Odinasse, Nelson, Donat, Edmond, Rosilda Gagnon, Lucia Leblanc, Rose Beneteau, Della Zecman, and Sr. Jeannette Gagnier. Survived and also missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Sr. Sarah began her professional journey as a cook for Academy of the Holy Names in Tampa, Florida, Albany, New York, Saint Mary's Academy, Windsor, and also a nurse for a hospital in Chicago ILL. From 1971-1992 she worked in the Holy Names Residence Infirmary. She worked as hospital Chaplain at Hotel Dieu Hospital. She served as a Pastoral Minister in River Canard. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Prayers at 4:30 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Our Lady of Assumption Church (350 Huron Church Rd.) on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Committal prayers at Heavenly Rest Cemetery followed by interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary for their Ministries.
