Obituary of Constantine Gherasim

Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2014, at Windsor Regional Hospital-Met Campus, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Virginia (nee Fortais). Predeceased by his parents George and Helen Gherasim. Loving father of Kelly Gherasim (Joe), Pamela Beausoleil (Mike), Stephen Gherasim (Dawn), and dear step father of Beth Ballentine (Tom), and Kim Doddridge. Proud grandfather of Tom (Andrea), Katie, Kelsey, Logan, Ryan, Heather, and Holly, and great grandfather of Carter and Blake. Dear brother of Pearl Novak, the late David Gherasim (2013) (Diane), Bill Gherasim (Valerie), and Jackie Tremblay (Rick). He is also remembered by many nieces and nephews and his beloved friend Abby. Sonny retired as District Fire Chief following 32 years of dedicated service with Windsor Fire & Rescue Services. He was active for many years with the Ontario Horseman"s Association, the Windsor Mic Mac Club, and a proud and devoted member of St. George"s Romanian Orthodox Cathedral. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 2-5 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Fire Fighter"s walk through at 7:30 p.m. & Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. Sunday. Friends and relatives may gather on Monday, January 20, 2014 at St. George"s Romanian Orthodox Cathedral from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. George Sandulescu officiating. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens. Donations made in memory of Sonny to Hospice of Windsor or The Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation are welcomed and appreciated by the family.
