I was very saddened to hear of Ron's death. I had only known him for about the last 6 years through his work at the Ministry of Education, but he made an immediate positive impression on me. His passion for education and for students, combined with an irrepressible sense of fun, made him an absolute pleasure to work with. I shall miss him. My condolences to his family. I teach at O'Gorman High School in Timmins. I was so sorry when I got the news of Ron's passing. I did not know him terribly well, but I really enjoyed any conversations I had with Ron at school functions. I sat beside Ron at the graduation dinner last June, and he shared his excitement about the coming baby. He was very concerned about his daughter's health, and I was able to share that I was extremely ill with all three of my girls, and they are healthy teens now. I know he must have been so happy about being a grandpa. I am so very sorry for your loss, and am praying for your family.

It was never hard to see the love that Ron had for his family, friends and students, as he wore his emotions on his sleeve. Please know that our thoughts are with you Pam as well as Michelle and Jennifer. We will keep the memory of Ronnie very close to our hearts. Brenda & Ron Ford & Hugh Allan

I am a teacher with NCDSB and I was very saddened to hear of Ron's passing. While I did not know Ron well, any interactions with him left an impression. I had the opportunity to sit in with him on some focus groups. What struck me most about Ron was that he seemed very much a problem solver. His focus was always to identify the problem and to find a solution...simple and effective. Ron and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

So so sorry to hear such awful news and feel terrible that we cannot be there. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. He played such an important role in advancing the education of so many students often on the fringe of educational programming.Hehelped pioneer so many programs that provided so many opportunities intechnical training, career changes, adult education and Canadian native education. If that was a program that was needed Ron found a way to make it happen. It may not have been in the most conventional or acceptable way....but Ron would make it happen always thinking about watt was best for them. For me personally,he was responsible for much of my success in education often convincing me to get into new areas I would not have normally considered. I thank him so much for his not so suble encouragement. He was such a good friend and mentor , and I will miss him dearly, But will cherish the many good memories.

My deepest condolences. I had the privilege of working with Ron at e-Learning Ontario. In my 30 years of public service I never met a harder working and more dedicated individual. He was the driving force that transformed a small e-learning pilot into a successful provincial strategy that has benefited thousands of students. He was a loyal friend, who enjoyed making you laugh, and who was always ready to lend a hand. His friends also knew how much he loved his family. At this sad time, my prayers are with you. It breaks my heart to hear that Ron has passed away. He was my supervisor at the Northeaster Catholic District School Board, for my ESL class. He interviews me over a year ago, and since then became my guardian at the board. He was more than a supervisor, he supported me and believed in so much like no one has ever done in my life. I'm so sorry for your loss, and my loss as well. He'll be greatly missed, but never forgotten. May his soul RIP.

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Ron for over 25 years and looked upon him as a friend and fellow ardent champion for technological education programs in Ontario schools. I had the opportunity to spend most of October 30th with Ron in North Bay when he was attending a workshop that I was co-presenting on Student Injury Prevention. As always, Ron was very engaged in the topic and offered experienced advice on moving the agenda forward on such an important topic. He even confided that he was contemplating looking for a place on the water in the North Bay area, where coincidently, I have a place that I intent to enjoy upon my not too distant retirement. I extended an invitation to Ron to come out for a visit something that he hoped to do this coming summer. Ron will be sorely missed, not only by his family, but also by his colleagues in education who have had the honour of his advice and discussion over the years. May God Bless.
