Obituary of Gregory Allan Slack
SLACK, Gregory Allan It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our Husband, Father, and Papa. Greg went home into the arms of our Lord on December 10, 2013. Loving husband and best friend for 44 years to Theresa (St. Louis). Father to Jeff Slack, and Margaret and Victor Neves. Special Papa to Abigail and Cody. Son in-law to Mary St. Louis. Son of the late Robert and Virginia Slack. Greg will be missed by cousins, nieces, nephews as well as his fury friends Tewa, Izzy, Papina, and Moe. Greg was an avid gardener who transformed empty palates into the most beautiful gardens. His work will be forever cherished in the yards of his family and friends. He was a true Blue Michigan Man who until the very end, believed that "Those who stay will be Champions". He fought with courage, with dignity and with bravery to the very end. He is not only a Champion, but a hero to his family. He lived and breathed for his wife, children and grandchildren. His selflessness and love will never be forgotten. Greg was a Queen Scout of the 56th Troop where he made many lifelong friends. He valued those years and the many mentors he had. His special knack was how he was able to touch lives everywhere he went through his kindness and generosity. He left an imprint on many hearts and will be remembered by those he met. A special thank you to Dr. Jerome Seid who's care went above and beyond. He was not just a doctor to Greg, but became a good and trusted friend. We would like to thank the many nurses and techs at St. John's Hospital 6 North especially Katie, Kim, Devin, Irma, Brenda, Tammy (E.R.), and Harry. The hospital became our home away from home. You made his stay as comfortable as possible and for that we thank you. Thank you to our friends and neighbours as you truly exemplified Jesus' love of neighbour during these last 10 months. Thank you to Father Mike Parent and the community of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for the daily prayers. They were appreciated more than you will ever know. Our family would like to take a moment to thank the many people who donated blood. Your gift of time and self, have helped sustain Greg and give him many more years to share with his family. In memory of Greg, spread kindness to others. As you do so, remember Greg lovingly as that is how he lived his life. John Holmes says "There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up". At Greg's request cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (4401 Mount Royal Drive) from 1:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Essex County Humane Society or Wings Rehabilitation Centre. Please join our family on Saturday in flying the Maize and Blue colours for dad. He loved Michigan and so on that day we want to honour him by wearing them. Daddy, May God Bless you and hold you in the palm of His hands until we meet again. We will continue your work here on earth, so know that your life was well lived and your legacy will continue till our last breath. LYTTMABFAE....
