Obituary of Laurie Jean Finlay

FINLAY Laurie Jean (nee Bobaljik) R.N. Passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Easter Sunday - April 8, 2007, at Windsor Regional Hospital Centre - Metropolitan Campus, at the age of 54 years. Beloved wife and soulmate of Paul. Cherished mother of Dean and Kara Finlay, both of Windsor. Beloved daughter and caregiver of Steve and Juliana Bobaljik. Daughter-in-law of Dean and Judy Finlay of Sarnia, Ontario. Dear sister of Wayne Bobaljik and wife Electa; and John Bobaljik and wife Judy, all of Windsor. Dear aunt of Eric Bobaljik, also of Windsor. Dear niece of John Bobaljik and wife Nancy of Willowdale, Ontario, the late Helen and Leonard Semack and the late Irene and George Ford. Laurie will be dearly missed by many cousins, extended family and friends in Ontario, the U.S.A., as well as Yugoslavia and Slovakia. Laurie attended De La Salle Elementary School, F.J. Brennan High School and the Hotel Dieu Hospital School of Nursing. She was retired from Hotel Dieu Hospital where she served for many years as a Nurse, a Nursing Supervisor and most recently, as the retired Director of the Mental Health Unit. Laurie Finlay was the most caring, compassionate friend of all whom she touched. She was best friend, lover and wife of Paul for 24 years, and the dynamic thoughtful, caring and nurturing mother of Dean and Kara. She was the matriarch of the Bobaljik clan and always led her life with concern, care, and compassion for others. Laurie's soul is imprinted on each of our concsiousness, and each of us will carry our own version forever. Today we remember all of the happy times we shared with Laurie. We appreciate the happiness and joy she always brought to others through the years, from her strengths and strong character. Today we celebrate all the good things about Laurie's life, and our relationships with her. Her life has been a beautiful journey, and we are so fortunate to have lived and loved the experiences we shared, and will always remember. We lift her up to the Lord, and may He be kind and gracious to her gentle caring and loving soul. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME 1700 Tecumseh Rd., East on Tuesday April 10, 2007 from 7-9 p.m., and on Wednesday from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Prayers Wednesday at 7:30 pm . The family will receive friends on Thursday April 12, 2007 at Church of The Atonement ( 2940 Forest Glade Drive) for visitation from 11:00 am until time of Funeral Mass to celebrate Lauries life at 11:30 am. Rev. Father Clare Coleman officiating. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. The pursuit of Continuing Education was a lifelong passion for Laurie, and so in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Continuing Education Nursing Fund (cards available at the funeral home).
