Obituary of Gastone Simoni

Simoni, Gastone (Ezio) It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gaston (Ezio) after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, June 9, 2013, surrounded by his family. Loving husband to Edda of 58 years; devoted Father to Darcy (Kristine), James (Sue) and Victoria; Nonno to Danielle, Alex, Jon, Chris, Ben, Amanda and Anthony. Ezio was predeceased by parents Luigi and Maria Teresa Simoni, brother Bruno, sister Marisa. Dearest and treasured brother to Mirella and husband Pietro Mancini, Gimi and wife Filomena Simoni, Viviania and husband Vincenzo Altobelli, Annamaria and husband Angelo Santangeli of Italy, Also survived by sister-in-law Donna Bressette and husband Ron Bressette. Donna tirelessly gave herself to help in his care. Son-in-law to the late Dominic and Inez Pezzola; predeceased by brothers-in-law Nello, Romeo, John and sisters-in-law Rose, Juiliet, and Eva. Ezio was a most respected and loved uncle to many nieces and nephews both in Canada and in Italy. We will miss " Zio Ezio" in our lives. Much loved by many great nieces and nephews as well as many cousins both in Canada and in Italy. Gaston (Ezio) was born in the town of Patrica, Frosinone, Italy on November 28, 1933. He emigrated to Canada to carve a better life for himself. Working very hard for many years, he retired from Dofasco (Hamilton) and enjoyed spending his winters in Florida along with his wife Edda, and joined by his sister Mirella and brother-in-law Pietro. Many happy times were shared. He was blessed with the company of many friends in Hamilton, Windsor and Florida, as he was one to show kindness, hospitality and always willing to help. He enjoyed gardening, but of utmost importance was making and sharing his wine. Ezio will be missed by friends Vince, Corrado and especially by his most dear and faithful friend Jim Maxwell, who visited him on a daily basis and accompanied him to doctor and hospital visits. He was of great support and comfort. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton St. E., Hamilton on Wednesday, June 12th, 2013 from 2- 4 pm and 7-9 pm. Prayer Service 3:30 pm . Visitation will also take place at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home, (Main Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., on Thursday, June 13th, 2013 from 2- 4 pm and 7-9 pm. Prayers at 3:30pm. Funeral services on Friday June 14, 2013 at 8:45am from the funeral home then to St. Angela Merici Church, (980 Louis Ave) for funeral mass at 9:30am. Entombment Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
