Obituary of Giuseppe Benforte

BENFORTE, Giuseppe<br/>May 31, 1927 - June 2, 2020<br/>It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Giuseppe at the age of 93 years. Loving and devoted husband of Elisabetta (nee Ferro) with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Loving and treasured father of Giuseppina (Salvatore) Basile, Lina (Ivan) Nicoletti, Margherita (Greg) Chiarcos, Mimma (Chris) Wojcik and Giuseppe (Jill) Benforte. Dearest Nonno of Selena, John, Noah, Joshua, Daniel, Sara, Erica, Adam, Matthew, Priya, Curtis and Milaina. Reunited with parents Giuseppe Benforte and Giuseppa Binaggia. Cherished brother of Margherita Palermo (late Antonino), Pietro Benforte (late Giovanna) and Vito (Anna) Benforte. Brother-in-law to the predeceased Girolama (Bartolo) Manfre, Caterina (Tommaso) Pace and Antonio (Caterina) Ferro. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends from Canada, Italy and Australia. Giuseppe was a retired factory worker of Windsor Bumper (Wicks Manufacturing) and a member of the Union Local 195 for 21 years. He was a faithful member of the Saint Joseph Congregation of St. Angela Merici Church. He loved homemade wine, enjoyed gardening, and was admired by many for his green thumb and especially his fig tree. Giuseppe liked watching the Tele Giornale, reading the Italian paper and playing Italian cards. His greatest joy in life was being with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He liked meeting others for coffee on Erie Street where he was known as "Mr. Joe". Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E 519-253-7234, on Monday, June 8, 4-7 p.m. and Tuesday, June 9, 1-4 & 6-9. <strong> Reservations for a visitation appointment time can only be scheduled in advance between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. </strong> Please call Windsor Chapel Funeral Home 519-253-7234 to secure a designated time to pay your respects. Only those who have made a reservation will be received by the family on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, June 10, family and friends are welcome to join a procession beginning at Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) parking lot at 9 a.m. please stay in your vehicle. The procession will leave at 9:15 a.m., pass by the family home and St. Angela Merici Parish, then to Heavenly Rest Cemetery for an in-car committal service followed by entombment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario has instituted the following directive. “The maximum number of people who can be at the funeral home at one time (not including staff) is 10 or fewer.
