Obituary of Carl Bohnert

BOHNERT, Carl 1930-2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather on May 10, 2013 with his loving family by his side. Born to the late Karl and Regina Bohnert in Regina, Saskatchewan on July 31, 1930. Beloved husband and soulmate of Velma (nee Eberwein) for 60 wonderful years. Loving father to Susan Bohnert Hamelin and husband Mark of Belle River, Douglas Bohnert and wife Maureen of Port Elgin. Dear grandpa of Nikolaus, Michael and Rachel. Step-grandpa to Jacob, Jonathan and Joshua. Predeceased by his brother Martin (2004), nephews Martin Jr. (2004) and Erwin (2007) all in Munich Germany. Survived by sister-in-law Susanna Bohnert and several great-nieces and nephews in Munich. Cousins Martin & Lucy Schneider (Windsor) and Carol & John Par (Chicago). Also many nieces and nephews. In his younger years he played soccer for the Teutonia Club and was known as the goalie named "Red". He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. Many a fish fry were celebrated with his friends and family. Carl retired from management at Dominion Forge Company. He spent his last few years at Royal Oak in Kingsville under the ever devoted and compassionate care of his wife and staff members. Special thanks to Connie, Jaclyn, Constance, Christina, Rika as well as Dr. Kelton and all the staff for their continued care. On Tuesday May 14, 2013 family and friends are requested to meet at St. Simon and St. Jude Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer"s Society.
