Many/most of my good & fun memories, especially from my childhood and early adulthood, are with Ciocia Hela-- along with my cousins, and with Perszons. Upon learning of her death, found myself telling and texting others stories about my aunt. I realized these memories should really be written down, in a journal. And perhaps then be shared with Tere and Steve, first off. Helen was very affectionate, as was her twin Caroline, in BC. But when they were together, they could be double trouble! When they bickered, but find themselves stuck in a stand-off, each would turn away yet make a face, or a noise, behind the others' back-- they were hilarious! There are hundreds of memories, big and small... Helen was a very supportive and loving influence in my life; both before and after my own mother died (Mum was only 54, I was just 15). Hela would've been just two months shy of turning 9 years old when the Nazi soldiers invaded Poland. She came from a large family, and one older brother helped save the family; He married and remained in Germany and all the remaining siblings, plus Babcia (their mom) made it to Canada and to the US. Helen had a very full and long life, and helped many people, in many ways. She will be long remembered. I am so happy that now she's no longer in daily severe pain and that she's now in perfect peace. Do widzienia, Cioc!
