Obituary of Steven Michael Slavik

SLAVIK, Steven Michael May 22, 1935-June 30, 2012 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a wonderful and gentle man. He will be lovingly remembered by so many people especially his wife Gerry (nee Westbury-Lesperance), his daughters Stefanie Slavik and Stacey Wawrow (Peter), his step- children, Gillian Rocca (Adriano) and Aaron Lesperance (Justine Gibbs), and son in-law John Thrasher. Steven cherished his grandchildren Nicholas, Jordan, and Daniel Thrasher, Jamie, Jack, and Ryan Wawrow, Lorenzo, Ottavio, and Matteo Rocca, and Ryder Lesperance. Steven has joined his parents Stefan and Mary Slavik, his brothers William (Bill) and John Slavik, his sisters Mary Gliganich and Anne Tomas, and his nephew Kyle Slavik. Survived by many brothers and sisters in-law Helen Slavik, Mary Slavik, David and Sandy, Les and Debbie, Robin Westbury, and Lisa and Dr. Fouad Tayfour. Steven is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He loved his career as an educator spending most of his career at Belle River District High School. He will continue to teach and guide us throughout our lives. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. 519-253-7234 on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 3, from 3-5 p.m. Parish prayers Tuesday, at 4:30. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 12 noon at Good Shepherd Parish (St. Gregory Site) 13789 St. Gregory's Rd (everyone is invited to meet directly at the church). Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to www.pancreaticcancercanada.ca in Steven"s memory.
