Obituary of Mary Picha

PICHA, Mary (Marija) (nee Zdunich). Born September 29, 1914 in Zabica (Gospic), Lika, Croatia. Peacefully passed away at the age of 97 years in the love and comfort of her devoted nieces, Dolly Rupcich, Rose Mary Dowhaniuk and great niece Christine at her side on December 25, 2011 at Banwell Gardens. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Joseph (1992) and is predeceased by her dear brothers John "Zdune", Milan, Ante, Marko and surviving wife Ika, and sisters Roza Asic and Josipa Rukavina. Dear Teta to her nieces and nephews, Rose Mary, Johnny, Milan, Dolly, Chichy; Debra, Michael, Ann Marie; Ivica, Misko, Ivanka; (Ljubica, Marian, Joso and Marijana of Croatia) and the late Mitza and Sophia of Argentina. Teta will also be missed by her many great nieces and great nephews. Mary is predeceased by her step-children, Ann Rezler, Bill Kovach, Mary Ubrin, and will be sadly missed by their children, Lori, Lisa; Bill, Mike, Nancy, Rick; John, Gary; Pauline, and all their families. Mary will always be remembered and never forgotten by her relatives, friends and neighbours near and far. Everyone was welcomed with open arms into Mary's home to share her gifts of cooking and baking, in which she had taken great pride and joy in doing for family and friends. Mary was a retiree of Canteen of Canada after many years of dedicated service. Mary's niece, Dolly would like to extend her heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Banwell Gardens for the excellent care and compassion shown to Teta over the past three and a half years. During this time the staff came to know Mary as their Teta too. Friends will be received at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 519-253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. at Banwell Rd. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 7-9 pm and Thursday from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Parish prayers Thursday 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 9:30 am until time of departure at 10:15 am from the funeral home to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 11 am. Interment to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy and at Mary's request donations to assist local children in our community with special needs may be made in care of the John McGivney Centre (3945 Matchette Rd., Windsor, ON.
