Obituary of Terrance J. Ryan

Ryan-Terrance August 21, 1932 - November 23, 2011. Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, " I will try again tomorrow". In his 80th year, with quiet strength and courage, Terry passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Theresa (Soos). He was married to the mother of his children, Eileen Halpin for 32 years. Terry was a very cherished father and grandfather to Michael Ryan, wife Lisa (Dumouchelle) and their children, Terry, Jayme and Christopher Ryan. Kathy Vossen (Ryan), husband Michael and their children Caylen, Everett and Mya Vossen. Jackie Iorio (Ryan), husband Robert and their children Jennifer Cook (Darin), Andrew and Venessa Iorio. Nora Mallat (Ryan), husband Blaine and their children Blake, Ryan and Amanda Mallat. Sean Ryan, wife Amy (Laforet) and their children Liam, Aidan, Keely and Jack Ryan. Terry was also a great grandfather to Ethan and Jonah Cook. Terry was the son of John Leo and Mary Esther Ryan. In his youth, Terry played Class D (Semi-Pro) Baseball. He became an accomplished carpenter and then pursued a career that supported his brilliant creativity. Terry became a highly accomplished Commercial Artist with a specialty in mechanical art. He attended Ryerson Technological Institute in Toronto and Meinzingers School of Art in Detroit. Later in his career he instructed at the prestigious College for Creative Studies in Detroit. He is the recipient of numerous Silver Caddy Awards for Excellence in Illustration presented by the Creative Advertisers of Detroit. During his career Terry"s aviation art was displayed in the Henry Ford Museum and the Scarab Club of Detroit. His cover art has been presented on numerous magazines including, Scientific American, Yachting, Popular Science and Boating Magazine. He did extensive advertising art for Chrysler, Ford and General Motors. Terry maintained his love of art and carpentry and continued these crafts into his 80thyear. Terry"s true passion was his family and he devoted much time to support their interests in minor hockey, minor baseball, refereeing and finally followed his own dream to race sprint cars. Words cannot express the love, admiration and gratitude his family holds for him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family.
