Annette and family, The members of Lakeshore Station #1 would like to express our sympathy to you. Although the passing of our brother and friend was expected it does not make it any easier. Many the times have stories been told about Deputy Chief Strong, and always with big smiles on our faces. Although John retired he never really left. On a number of occasions after seeing the trucks wail past his house. He'd notice the bay doors still open, walk over and close them for us. John was a mentor, but most of all a friend to all of us who had the honour of serving with him. John was a fixture at station #1 and his memory will be for a long time still. On behalf of his brothers at station #1, I would like to thank you for sharing him with us. Looks like the spirit of "big" John will again be riding out with us on E -1 to our calls.
