Obituary of John Ernest Kell

KELL- Jack At 60 years of age on July 31, 2011, peacefully at home in the arms of his adoring wife Cathy (nee Langlois). Loving father of Jenny (Willie) and Joel (Heather). Cherished grandpa of Jade, Zoe and Aislyn. Dear brother of Bill (Pat), Warren (Karen), Liz (Mark), Michael, and Richard (Emilia). Brother-in-Law of Mary-Jo Beetham (Ellwood), Betsy Creighton and the late Larry, the late Larry Langlois (Claire). Predeceased by his parents Henry (1967), Florence (2008) and Step Father Harry Lodge (1998). Fun uncle to many nieces and nephews. Jack was a dedicated employee of the City of Windsor (Public Works Department, CUPE Local 82). In his early years, Jack"s passion for sports was evident beginning with his love of baseball and hockey which extended itself when he was drafted and played for the London Knights of the OHA Junior "A" League, and in 1971 signed a National Hockey League contract with the Los Angeles Kings. After a career where he played for several professional leagues, he continued hockey with many of the recreational senior leagues throughout the Windsor/Essex Area. Jack also fully enjoyed playing golf, and hunting and fishing at his many Northern Ontario retreat locations (his moving trailer). He will be fondly remembered for his many pranks and encyclopedia of jokes by his work buddies, sport teammates, hunting and fishing pals, and especially his friends at Wildwood-by-the-Lake, where he spent most of his summers. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. (corner of Banwell and Tecumseh Rd. Ph: 253-7234) on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011 from 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011 at 11:30 am in the chapel. Cremation to follow. The family wish to thank the CCAC, and the nurses from the VON who assisted Cathy in caring for Jack during his short illness.
