Obituary of William Alec Brown
BROWN, William Alec " Bill " Passed away peacefully on June 23, 2011 at Brouillette Manor at the age of 98 years ( 3 days before his 99th birthday) . Waiting for Bill with open arms is his loving wife of 65 years Alice ( 2004 ). Loving father to many children of St. Mark's By the Lake. Dear brother of the late Amy Elizabeth Hawkesbee - London, England , also predeceased by his sister-in-law Frances Dragomir - Windsor. Loving uncle to Susan Cole & Son Matthew - Rainham, England and Pat Nash - Windsor . Bill served in WWII with the British Army - Sgt with the Royal Engineers - serving in Dunkirk, France & D. Day Normandy, he was a long time member of the RCL Branch #255 and retired from British Railways after many years of dedicated service. Dear friend of Bev Watson, a special thanks to his many close friends at St. Clair Towers, Devonshire Seniors Residence and Brouillette Manor for the love shown to Bill over the years. Bill touched many lives and he will be forever be remembered as a " True Gentleman ". Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. ( corner of Banwell & Tecumseh Rd E.) on Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 until time of Bill's Veteran's Service Friday evening at 8:00 PM under the Auspices of the Windsor Veteran's Memorial Committee. Relatives & friends are invited to celebrate Bill's life at St. Mark's by the Lake Anglican Church ( 150 St. Mark ) on Saturday June 25th, 2011 from 2:30 PM until time of Funeral Service at 3:30 PM. The Rev. Canon Kevin George Officiating. Interment Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's by the Lake Church - Raising the Roof Fund.
