Obituary of Mato Car

CAR, Mato Born December 10, 1941 in Croatia. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father and "Didi" at the age of 69 on March 18, 2011 at W.R.H., Metropolitan Campus with his family by his side. Mato is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Katica (nee Trbuscic). Loving father to Ivan (Sharon) Car, Kristina (Aldo) Di Paolo and Oliver Pozar. Cherished "Didi" to Cristofer. Predeceased by his parents Matija (1945) and Barbara (1994); sisters Ljubica Vajda (2009) and Viktoria Car; brother Ljubomir Car (2002) and nephew Danny Car (1991). Dear brother to Ivan and wife Betty Car (Ottawa) and brother in-law to Ljubica and husband George Rozic (Tecumseh). Wonderful uncle to Ivan, Ricky, Peter and Bernie Car (Ottawa); Jerry Rozic (London, ON); Dan Rozic and Cindy Vanier (Belle River) and their families. Also survived by many great nieces and great nephews. Mato was a retired employee of Ford Motor Company with 34 years of dedicated service and a member of C.A.W. Local 200, St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church and a 35 year member of the Croatian Bowling League. In his younger years, Mato enjoyed coaching soccer with the Windsor Croatia Soccer Club. A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Iler Lodge in Essex and Aspen Lake in Windsor along with the staff on 6 North at W.R.H., Metropolitan Campus for their compassionate care provided to Mato and his family. Friends will be received at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E, (corner of Banwell & Tecumseh Rd. E.) on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 7 - 9 pm and Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. Parish prayers Monday at 8 pm. Funeral Services on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 9:30 am from the Banwell Chapel then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the family or St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
