Dear Bernadette, Gord and Mary Anne: Please accept my sincere sympathies on the loss of Gord. I had many occasions at work to talk to him. He had a great passion for his family and it was evident that he was a proud dad. Seeing his smiling face in the picture is really the way I remember Gord. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Bernadette, Breelyn, Shantel, Michael, and Keiana. I truly am at a loss for words upon hearing of Gord's passing. From the first day Brett started hockey after we moved to Belle River Gord was the first and only person at the rink to introduce himself and make us feel welcome. That truly was appreciated. Over the years Gord and I spoke at the rink often and we were both at times an ear for the other one to vent to. What we spoke of remained between us and I can honestly say that it was refreshing to be able to speak freely about things and know that it would go no further. That said a tremendous amount about Gord's character and I can honestly say that there haven't been many people I've ever met that I immediately took a liking to and respected like I did Gord. He was always there with a warm smile, hello and a firm handshake, along with his ever-present cup of coffee. Although I only really knew him through hockey I am proud to have met him and consider him a friend. I truly will miss seeing him around the rink. May God bless you in this most difficult time.

February 7, 2011 Prayer for the Deceased Gordon Paul Johnston and for Mourners, Lord, as we mourn the sudden death of Gordon Paul Johnston, show us the immense power of Your goodness and strengthen our belief that he has entered into Your Presence. Lord Jesus, our Redeemer, You willingly gave Yourself up to death so that all people might be saved and pass from death into a new life. Listen to our prayers; look with love on Your people who mourn and pray for their dead brother, Gordon Paul. Lord Jesus, You alone are holy and compassionate; forgive our brother his sins. By dying You opened the gates of life for those who believe in You; do not let our brother Gordon Paul be parted from You, but by Your glorious power give him light, joy, and peace in heaven where You live for ever and ever. Amen. Dear Gordon and Mary Anne Johnston and the Johnston Family, We extend our deepest condolences on the passing of your most beloved Gordon Paul. Gord and Mary Anne, the loss of someone so close like your cherished son is very difficult to bear. Our hearts are with you and your loved ones. The process of working through those losses is very challenging. Our Catholic Church tells us it is helpful to pray (eg.the Rosary) for those who have died. We have come to believe that God is at least as upset about your loss as we are. After all, Jesus stood and wept at the tomb of his friend Lazarus. Even Jesus was not spared death. Our comfort is in the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary where we can encounter the reality of our human position and the truth that is Our Lord's agony and death. We sense the sword piercing the heart of his Mother on Calvary. The Mother of Jesus felt His pain at Golgatha, that sorrowful pain that you (Gord and Mary Anne) experience now, when She saw Jesus expired on the cross and her arms received His broken Body. The Johnston Family, are people of prayers. We will remember to pray the Rosary in union with you not only for the Late Gordon but for your personal intentions. We will also remember to pray for the repose of the soul of Gordon Jr. during our weekly Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help at this time. ~ Ted & Teresa Jankowski, Windsor, Ontario

I first met Gordie when he came into the Cutter Grind at GM transmission in the late 90s. What a piece of work! To work and survive in that department, meant you had to be quick on your feet and have thick skin. Gord soon became a standard to meet. I had the pleasure of working with the Gord almost everyday for 4 years, and it was like a comedy hour. Got to know Gord really well as a person. I really respected his views, his priorities, his devotion to his family. He was like a brother to me and I will miss him deeply and am so sorry for everyones loss espically, Bernadette and the kids and the rest of his family. Far too early a departure, of this unique and special individual. Truly a SOLID MAN, I can only admire, look up to, and borrow some of his qualities to make me a better person. To the Kids, your Dad was a GREAT MAN and you are fortunate to have had him as your Father!!! My deepest sympathies to Bernadette and the Kids Sincerely, Rick Lescanec

Bernadette & Family, I was shocked when I heard the news about Gord on Friday evening and still now as I am writing this, it doesn't seem like reality. I am so sorry for your loss. I have worked with Gordie for the last ten years at GM, (I was one of his loyal 'gym' buddies), and was with him when we walked off the job for the last time at the end of November. What a good guy he was and he truly will be missed. He always spoke so proudly of his children, and the rest of his family including his mom and dad! He and I hit it off from the first time we met since we were so close in age, and I will truly miss his friendship and motivation. Could always count on Gord to make the time pass by quickly with the laughs we shared at work. Deepest thoughts and prayers to the entire Johnston family at this time. Words cannot express the saddness, Tony Veresuk

Dear Mary Ann and Gord, when we walk in the footsteps of Jesus the one thing that its guaranteed is that we will be with Him in Heaven. That road that leads straight to Him is not always a straight path. It has many curves and many obstacle and sometimes the pain is so deep that our inside feels its going to explode. Jesus said pick up your Cross and follow me and by embracing our cross, we embrace the One Who died on it. He assures us that He will be with us every step of the way. I pray for you that He will give you and your family strength and courage to endure, and grace to accept. All my love Josie

He was always viewed as the hunk of all fathers in our group of friends and loved and cherished for his sense of humor and love towards his four beautiful children and wife. I will always remember Gordon for the bright spirit he always was and I will smile at the memories I've had with his wonderful children for years to come.
