Obituary of Ivana Bakic

BAKIC, Ivana (nee Verunica) Passed away peacefully on January 1, 2020 with her loving family by her side at the age of 86. Reunited with her beloved husband Petar Bakic (2002). Loving and devoted mother to Jasna Aldea (Terry) and Ivanka Van Schaik (Dale). Cherished and admired Baba to Ashley, Stephanie, Victoria, and Ivana (Paul). Predeceased by sisters Fila (2019) (Tome) and Luca (2007) (Josip) of Croatia. She is survived by nephews Ivica Bakic (Zelijka) and Mico Bakic (Stephanie), and niece Mladenka Cakarun (Oleg), and many other nieces, nephews, extended family members and good friends of Windsor and Croatia. Ivana was a faithful and devoted Catholic of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church. A special thank you to her dear friends Katica, Vedrana and Sime for helping her attend church every week. Throughout her life Ivana loved to spend time with her family, especially baking and cooking for family holiday dinners and birthdays. Ivana will be forever remembered for her beautiful and caring heart, her unconditional love for her family and her blessed faith in God. The family would like to thank all the health care professionals from Extendicare Tecumseh-Livingston and WRH in ER and 4 Oncology for their great care and comfort in the last few days of Ivana’s life and the family is sincerely grateful. Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. 519-253-7234 on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers Friday at 8 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Ivana to the St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund or the Ronald McDonald House Charities – Southwestern Ontario are welcomed and appreciated by the family.
