Obituary of Anna Mauro

MAURO Anna (nee Ruzza) Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the age of 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Alessandro (Mar 12, 1987). Beloved mother of Leonard Mauro; and Florence Raisbeck and husband Brian, all of Windsor. Cara Nonna of Chris Mauro and wife Anne, of Michigan; Sarah Sclafani and husband Tony, and Justin Raisbeck and wife Alex, all of Toronto. Cara Bisnonna of Tyler and Gabriel. Dear sister of Sergio Ruzza of Windsor, and his late wife Tina; the late Ennia Viale and her late husband Antonio; the late Ennio Ruzza and surviving wife Isa; and the late Leda Fossati and surviving husband Marco. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. Special mother-in-law to Cindy Mauro. Deep gratitude to her niece, Andreina Kobrosli, for her love and support. Many thanks to Dr. Aoun and the staff at Malden Park " Tayfour Campus. Having been born in Adria (Rovigo), Italy, Anna was always proud of her Italian heritage. Her love for children inspired her to become a teacher. In 1952, she and her husband, Alessandro, took the brave step of moving to Canada with her family to begin a new life. She was well known for her love of the arts, singing opera and quoting Dante everywhere, especially at the dinner table. Anna also enjoyed being a member of the Fogolar Furlan"s Women"s Association. Anna (a.k.a. "Hollywood") was a long-standing member and supporter of Theatre Alive for twenty-seven years. Above all, "la famiglia" was the center of her universe. Her spirit and legacy will never be forgotten. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519.253.7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd., East on Tuesday March 12, 2013 from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. Prayers Tuesday at 4:30 pm. The family will receive friends at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (804 Grand Marais Rd., East at Parent Avenue) on Wednesday March 13, 2013 for visitation from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass to celebrate Anna's life at 11:00 am.
