Obituary of Massimo Bon

BON, Massimo It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Massimo Bon on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 following an unexpected and brief battle with cancer. Loving husband of Serena for 56 years; devoted father of daughters Nancy (Alan) Figgins and Diana (Bruce) Pickering; proud and doting Nonno to Lauren, Alayna, Noah and Olivia. Predeceased by his parents Ernesto and Ernesta Bon. Beloved brother of Elena and Vitaliana (Italy) and predeceased by brothers Beppino, Nino and sisters Fiorella and Irma. Massimo immigrated to Canada in 1956 where he worked as a carpenter in construction before retiring from Chrysler. Massimo embraced Canada and all it had to offer. He was an avid sports enthusiast and was often seen at hockey arenas, dance recitals, baseball parks and bowling alleys supporting his grandchildren. His friends and family played a major part in his life. Massimo never forgot his Italian roots and was an active member of the Fogolar Furlan Club of Windsor volunteering countless hours at the Club. He was also a proud member of the Gruppo Alpini and the Lega Istriana of Chatham and South-Western Ontario. The family would like to thank Doctors Peterson, Schneider and Shamisa and the 4th floor nursing staff of Windsor Regional for their dedication and compassion. E. on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Prayers at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Services on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 8:45 a.m. from the Funeral Home then to St. Angela Merici Church for Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Transition to Betterness or the Fogolar Furlan Scholarship Fund.
