Obituary of Alfredo Morando

MORANDO, Alfredo The family of Alfredo announce the peaceful passing of a beloved husband, father, nonno and friend on September 21, 2012 at the age of 94. Loving and devoted husband of Rosetta (nee Marra) for 53 years. Adored and loved father of Maria Pia and Fabio Bernabo. Cherished and proud nonno of Matteo and Marco. Reunited with his parents, Carlo and Maria Morando, seven brothers, father- and mother-in-law Pasquale and Assunta Marra and two brothers-in-law. Survived by sister-in-law Maria Anzolin (late Vittorio) and brother-in-law Pietro and Olga Marra. Caro Zio to Gianfranco, Maria, Roger, Renzo, Susy, their families and many others in the USA and Italy. Born in Genova, Italy and came to Canada as a tool and die maker by trade. As both President of the Alpini Assc. and Corresponding Secretary at the Giovanni Caboto Club for 25 years, he lived a life of dedicated service. He was honoured to be Italian of the Year in 1987 for his commitment to the Italian community of Windsor. A figure of unconditional love and unwavering optimism, he will be fondly remembered. On Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Parish prayers Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home then to St. Angela Merici Church for funeral mass at 11:00 am. Followed by entombment at Heavely Rest Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital Renal Dialysis Unit or to the Madonna di Fatima orphanage.
