Obituary of Annie Tonita

TONITA, Annie (Ann) (nee Precop). Born October 23, 1926, passed away August 20, 2012, following a brief and sudden illness. Devoted and loving wife of Peter Tonita for the last 64 years. Dearest mother of Gary Tonita and wife Cindy of Windsor; Lori Garant and husband Terry of Windsor; Jon Tonita and fianc" Mary Deane of Regina. Beloved grandmother of Julie Pimiskern and husband Steven of Windsor; Nick Tonita and wife Cheryl of Windsor; Andrew Moore of Windsor; Rob Tonita of New York; Jeff Garant and wife Cindy of Windsor; Katie Garant of Windsor and fianc" Greg Enwright of Bradford; Ryan, Erin and Ben Tonita of Regina. Great-grandmother of Andrew and Juno Pimiskern; and Marshall Tonita. Daughter of the late Dumitru and Mary Precop. Daughter-in-law of the late George and Iona Tonita of Saskatchewan. Predeceased by her brother Peter Precop (late Margaret and Virginia). Survived by her sisters Eleanor Giofu (Constantine) of Windsor and Evelyn Sekedat (late Victor) of Allen Park, Michigan. Also survived by sister-in-law Joan Pazuk (Dennis) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; brother-in-law Dan Tonita (Helen) of Regina, and sister-in-law Lillian Tonita (late Chris) of Calgary. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Ann was a long-standing member and parishioner of St. George"s Romanian Orthodox Cathedral. She was an avid gardener, cook, golfer, bowler and card player, all of which she enjoyed with enthusiasm right up to the time of her illness. She maintained life-long friendships with many in the community. Ann will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Thank you to the ICU/CCU staff at Windsor Regional Met Campus Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion during Ann"s illness. Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd E. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to gather at St. George"s Romanian Orthodox Cathedral on Friday, August 24, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
