Obituary of Maria Elizabeth Hinek

HINEK, Maria (Mary) Elizabeth (nee Wakon) Born - June 25, 1927. Died - August 15, 2011. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Steve (1981). Loving mother to Steven and wife Nancy, of Windsor and Annie and husband Randy Cecile of Tecumseh. Devoted grandmother to Steven Hinek and wife Kristine, Jason Hinek and friend Leila, Leanne and husband Dr. Matt Cotant, Ryan Cecile and friend Sonja, Bradley Cecile and friend Deb. Dear great-grandmother to Steven and Randy Hinek, Connor and Liam Cotant. Beloved sister of Agatha and husband Hank Schulz. Predeceased by sister Julia and husband Joe Drobitch, brother John Wakon and wife Eva as well as 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Dear sister in-law to the late Annie and Steve Eberwein. Treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews. Special thanks for the loving care of neighbours Mike & Christine Laino and Navina & Tony Bortolin. Maria was a long time member of St. Michael's German Church Catholic Women"s League and Most Precious Blood Catholic Women's League. Maria was known for being generous and caring and her wonderful Sunday dinners and delicious home-made cookies. Special thank you to Dr. K. Kupeyan, Susan Hamlin and the nurses and staff at 7 East and West at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital for the care shown to Maria. E. on Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Family and friends are requested to meet at Most Precious Blood Church on Friday, August 19, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
